Hebrews 11:37 (2023) – They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented [cf. Ps. 119:71 – It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. Ps. 34:19 – Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. II Tim. 3:12 – Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. Philip. 1:29 – For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; Rom. 8:16-18 – The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
