How Hebrews 3:9 Stood Out

Heb. 3:9 – When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

(2024) – When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. [cf. Num. 14:22-24 – Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. I Cor. 10:9 – Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Matt. 19:3 – The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? Mark 8:11 – And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him. Mark 10:2 – And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. Mark 12:15 – Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it. Luke 20:23 – But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? John 8:6 – This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. Deu. 6:16 – Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. Ps. 78:17-19 – And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Ps. 78:41-42 – Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy. Ps. 78:56 – Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies; Ps. 106:13-15 – They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. Matt. 4:7 – Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Luke 4:12 – And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.]
