Mark 8:15 – And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod. (2023) – And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod. [cf. Matt. 16:12 – Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. Mark 12:13 – And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. Matt. 22:15-28 – Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? I Cor. 5:8 – Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.] (2021) – And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod. Mark 7:5-7 – Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Ps. 118:8 – It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
