How Matthew 26:5 Stood Out

Matthew 26:5 (2023) – But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people. [cf. 21:26 – But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. 21:46 – But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. Deu. 1:17 – Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it. Prov. 29:25 – The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. Matt. 10:28 – And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Luke 12:4-5 – And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.]
