How Amos 5:2 Stood Out

This page may have some technical imperfections, but is made available before inspection for you to benefit from the majority of material that likely has no problems.

Amos 5:2 – The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

(2023) – The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up. [cf. Prov. 24:16 – For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.]

(2021) – The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up. [Some may think this contradicts Rom. 11:26: And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. Once a virgin has committed fornication or adultery, she is no longer a virgin – she shall no more rise a virgin, but she can rise forgiven if she confesses her sin (I John 1:9).]
