Amos 1:4 (2024) – But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad. [cf. v. 7 – But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof v. 10 – But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof. v. 12 – But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah. v. 14 – But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind; Jer. 17:27 – But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched. Hos. 8:14 – For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof. Amos 1:4 – But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad. Amos 1:7 – But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof; Amos 1:10 – But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof. Amos 1:12 – But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah. Amos 1:14 – But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind; Amos 2:2 – But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet; Amos 2:5 – But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem. Compare II Pet. 3:9-18 – But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.]
