Jeremiah 48:37 (2023) – For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth. [cf. 47:5 – Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself? Lev. 019:027-028 – Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard. Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. Lev. 21:5 – They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh. Deu. 14:1 – Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead. Mark 5:5-8,20 – And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. ... And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.]
