Jeremiah 42:14 (2023) – Saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell [cf. Is. 30:1-3 – Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion. Is. 31:1 – Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! Is. 36:6 – Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him. Jer. 46:25 – The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him; Is. 30:7 – For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still. Ps. 60:11 – Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Ps. 108:12 – Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Ps. 118:8-9 – It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
