How Jeremiah 38:5 Stood Out

Jer. 38:5 – Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand: for the king is not he that can do any thing against you.


(2024) – Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand: for the king is not he that can do any thing against you. [cf. v. 19 – And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me. Matt. 27:24-26 – When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. I Sam. 15:24 – And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. Prov. 29:25 – The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. Matt. 10:28 – And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Luke 12:4-5 – And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.]
