How Song of Solomon 1:3 Stood Out

Song of Solomon 1:3 (2024) – Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee. [cf. Prov. 22:1 – A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. Ecc. 7:1 – A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth. Ps. 52:8-9 – But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints. Ps. 54:6 – I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.
