Ecclesiastes 5:10 (2023) – He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. [cf. Prov. 27:20 – Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. CONTRAST Luke 3:14 – And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. Philip. 4:11-13 – Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
