Psalms 79:13 (2023) – So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. [cf. 44:1 – We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. 71:18 – Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. 78:3 – Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 78:4 – We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. 78:6 – That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children; 145:4 – One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. Joel 1:3 – Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. Deu. 6:6-7 – And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. II Tim. 2:2 – And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. CONTRAST Judg. 2:10-15 – And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger. And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth. And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies. Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.]
