How Esther 8:9 Stood Out

Esther 8:9 (2024) – Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language. [cf. II Sam. 15:3 – And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee. I Kings 22:47 – There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king. Acts 19:38 – Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.]
