I Chronicles 17:22 (2021) – For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God. [cf. Gen. 28:20-21 – And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God. [Joshua exhorted the children of Israel to put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. ... choose you this day whom ye will serve .... And the people said unto Joshua, ... we will serve the LORD (Josh. 24:14-15,21). Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever (Ps. 23:6).
