I Kings 15:3 (2024) – And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father. [cf. Ezek. 20:4 – Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers; Ezek. 20:18 – But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols; Ezek. 20:24 – Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols. Is. 65:6-7 – Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom, Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom. Lev. 26:15-16,39 – And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. ... And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them. Ps. 106:6 – We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. Jer. 14:20 – We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.]
