How I Samuel 8:5 Stood Out

I Sam. 8:5 – And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.


(2024) – And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. [cf. v. 6 – But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. v. 19 – Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; 12:12 – And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God was your king. Matt. 6:24 – No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.]
