How Judges 17:7 Stood Out

Judg. 17:7 – And there was a young man out of Beth-lehem-judah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.


(2025) – And there was a young man out of Beth-lehem-judah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there. [cf. Mic. 5:2 – But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Matt. 2:6 – And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. CONTRAST Josh. 19:15-16 – And Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Beth-lehem: twelve cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.]

[the Beth-lehem which is in Judah, as distinguished from the Beth-lehem in Zebulun (cf. Josh. 19:15-16 – And Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Beth-lehem: twelve cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.)]
