How Judges 6:37 Stood Out

Judg. 6:37 – Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.

(2024) – Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. [threshingfloor (19 verses); cf. v. 11 – Gideon threshed wheat; this would be done outside, where the wind could carry the chaff away (Dan. 2:35; Job 21:18; Ps. 1:4; 35:5; Is. 17:13). He had been doing it by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites (v. 11), but perhaps doing the wool test on the floor was an act of hope or faith that he would again be able to thresh on the threshingfloor.]
