How Numbers 31:9 Stood Out

Numbers 31:9 (2026) – And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods. [cf. v. 15 – And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? v. 17 – Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. v. 18 – But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. v. 35 – And thirty and two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him. Gen. 2:23 – And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. I Cor. 11:8-9,11-12 – For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. ... Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. Gen. 2:22 – And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. Gen. 1:27 – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Eph. 5:25-33 – Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.]
