How Exodus 23:13 Stood Out

Exodus 23:13 (2026) – And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth. [cf. Ps. 16:4 – Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. Hos. 2:17 – For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name. Deu. 7:24 – And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them. Eph. 5:11-12 – And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. Is. 26:13 – O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.]
