What Stood Out in Today's Bible Reading
2023 9:2 – I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God? [cf. Hab. 2:4 – Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. Rom. 1:17 – For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Gal. 3:11 – But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Heb. 10:38-39 – Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. Ps. 139:23-24 – Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.] 10:9 – Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again? [cf. Ecc. 12:1,7,13-14 – Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; ... Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. ... Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.] 10:11 – Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews. Ezek. 37:5-6 – Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.] 10:13 – And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee. [compare Ps. 119:11 – Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.] 10:15 – If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction [compare Dan. 9:8 – O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. Ps. 44:15 – My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me; James 3:14-18 – But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
